Membership Website Hosting
Got a great idea for a membership website but don’t know where to host it? I was in your position! My first inclination was to go with my registrar GoDaddy. Big mistake! Now I’m with HostGator and they’ve been great!

I can’t really think of anything you could possibly want in a hosting company that HostGator doesn’t do and do well. It’s infinitely expandable, so you never have to worry about your business getting too big for your hosting company, it’s fast which is crucial to user experience and Google rankings, and the tech support is phenomenal. I host a number of membership sites with them and have never experienced a second of downtime. I really can’t recommend them enough.
And do yourself a favor and get the unlimited domains plan because once you make one website, you’re going to want to make others–it’s easy!
Already bought your domains at Godaddy?
Not a problem. Hosting is completely separate from Domain Management. Here’s the step by step guide to hosting domains that you bought on Godaddy with HostGator:
- Log into GoDaddy
- Go into Domain Management
- Select the domain that you would like to host with HostGator
- Select “Set Nameservers” from the “Nameservers” dropdown
- Select the “I have specific nameservers for my domain” radio button
- Enter your HostGator Nameservers which can be found on the left hand side of your cPanel under “Account Information”
- They should look something like this: nsXXX.hostgator.com (NOTE: instead of XXX there will be 3 numbers)
- Press OK
That’s it!
If this sounds complicated, don’t worry–it’s very easy to get the hang of it and once you do, it’s like riding a bike. I’m not very tech savvy and yet I’ve managed it!
What are you waiting for?
If you’re waiting to hear the disadvantages of hosting with HostGator, I’m sorry to disappoint, but there really are none. You can probably continue your research and find other website recommending other hosting companies, and maybe they’ve had success with other companies as well. But I really can’t think of anything that HostGator could do better and there’s no way that you could go wrong hosting with them. So unless you like researching for the sake of researching, you should just sign up for it right now!
